The options at a glance

Getting from Eindhoven Airport to Amsterdam comes down to three ways: a direct coach, the bus to Eindhoven Centraal and a train from there, or a car that takes you to your door. The car can be a taxi from the rank or a ride you booked before you flew. The honest comparison is not which one is cheapest on paper, but which one is cheapest for your trip: how many of you there are, how much luggage you carry and what time you land.

The prices and timetables of the coach, the bus and the train are not on this page, and that is deliberate: they belong to other companies, they change, and those companies are the ones who know them for certain. What you will find here is what applies to a taxi, because that is what we know.

By direct coach

A coach runs from Eindhoven Airport directly to Amsterdam, without a change. It is a commercial service and not regular public transport: the airport lists it separately, links to the company that runs it, and gives the journey as about 2 hours. Tickets, departure times and where it stops in Amsterdam are with that company.

For one or two people with a small suitcase, arriving in the daytime, this is usually the simplest way to make the trip. It gets harder when the coach drops you somewhere other than your address and the rest of the way still has to be done with luggage.

By bus and train via Eindhoven Centraal

There is no railway station at the airport itself. Buses 400 and 401 run several times an hour from the stop next to the terminal to Eindhoven Centraal, the main station of the city, and from there NS trains run to Amsterdam. If you are coming from NS station Best instead, bus 20 also goes to the airport.

The airport does not give a single public transport route to Amsterdam and refers you to the journey planners of NS, the Dutch railways, and 9292, which have the current times, connections and fares. With heavy luggage this route asks a lot of you: a bus, a change to the train, and in Amsterdam often a tram or a metro to your address. That is where the sum starts to favour a car.

By taxi: the legal maximum

Nobody can honestly give you one amount for a taxi from Eindhoven Airport to Amsterdam, and a page that does is guessing. A metered taxi charges for two things at once, the kilometres and the minutes in the car, and Amsterdam is not a single address.

What is fixed is the ceiling. The Dutch government sets a maximum for metered rides. Since 1 January 2026, a car for up to 4 passengers may charge at most €4.31 to start, €3.17 per kilometre and €0.52 per minute. A van for 5 to 8 passengers may charge €8.77, €4.00 and €0.59. The driver may always charge less, never more.

VehicleStartPer kilometrePer minute
Car, up to 4 passengers€4.31€3.17€0.52
Van, 5 to 8 passengers€8.77€4.00€0.59

On a long motorway ride most of a metered fare comes from the kilometres: every ten kilometres may add up to €31.70 on the meter in a car. That is why the price of this ride is worth settling before you leave the airport, not at the end of it.

A fixed price or the meter

A metered ride has a ceiling, but it is not predictable. A fixed price agreed in advance is predictable, but it has no legal ceiling: once you accept it, that is the amount, and the maximum above no longer applies to the total. On a ride this long the difference matters more than anywhere in the city.

What counts is agreeing it before the ride starts, in writing or in an app, and not at the kerb with the engine running. When you book with WellTransfers you see the price for each type of vehicle before you confirm, you pay online with card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or iDEAL, and it does not change afterwards. You can book here yourself when you are picked up almost anywhere in the Netherlands; the destination can be anywhere. So you can book a ride from Eindhoven Airport here yourself.

Which one to choose

The useful question is not which is cheapest, but cheapest when. Four situations in which a car beats the coach and the train, and none of them has to do with speed:

  • With a lot of luggage. On the coach and the train you carry it yourself, and at every change again. The driver loads and unloads it and drops you at the door.
  • As a group. Coach and train tickets are per person, a taxi on the meter is per car. The more of you there are, the smaller the difference per person, and from five passengers, or with more than four pieces of luggage, a booking switches to a Van automatically.
  • Landing late. Check the last coach and the last train before you fly. If they have gone by the time you have your luggage, a car booked in advance is the only door-to-door option.
  • To an address away from the station. Two changes with luggage cost more time and nerves than the ticket saves.

At the airport: where to find your ride

The official Eindhoven Airport taxi rank is the taxi lane next to the terminal. The airport advises always taking a taxi from that lane, and warns about people who offer rides around the terminal entrance and exit and in the arrivals hall. From the rank to the centre of Eindhoven is, according to the airport, about 15 to 20 minutes by car.

If you booked in advance, the pick-up point is in your booking, and a link shows you the driver on the way, so you can see when the car is there. The buses to Eindhoven Centraal leave from the stop next to the terminal, in the P1 car park.

Landing at Rotterdam The Hague Airport instead

Some flights land at Rotterdam The Hague Airport. Its taxis wait right next to the terminal building, where the airport works with one taxi partner of its own, and WellTransfers is not that partner. Being picked up or dropped off goes through the Kiss & Ride close to the building. By public transport, bus 33 stops next to the departure hall and runs from Rotterdam Centraal, or from metro station Meijersplein on line E; from Rotterdam Centraal, NS trains run to Amsterdam. The airport address is Rotterdam Airportplein 60, 3045 AP Rotterdam.

You can book here yourself when you are picked up almost anywhere in the Netherlands; the destination can be anywhere. So you can book a ride from Rotterdam The Hague Airport here yourself. More about each airport is on our pages Taxi Eindhoven Airport and Taxi Rotterdam Airport, which are in Dutch. Landing at Schiphol after all? Then read Amsterdam Airport to the city centre.
